If you review the newspaper listings from 1907-1917, the windows are called “memorial windows.” The individuals/families paid for these windows and may have sought above all to remember their families and their roles within the church. Many did worship here and bought pews – the Phillips, Moncures, Greens, Wallaces and Downmans. To their credit, they selected leading companies to do the quality work that would enhance and reflect their families’ reputations.
